OUTLINE OF THE THREE YEARS PROGRAM
General objective
Presentation of the making of Winnicottian psychoanalysis as a whole by explaining its theoretical structure, its clinical relevance and its applicability to preventing indivudual and social diseases. At the same time, cases taken from Winnicott´s writings or brought up by the participants of the Course will be discussed or supervised.
Contents of the Course per periods
- Period – May 2014
A) Winnicott´s paradigm
The objective here is to present a general view on Winnicottian psychoanalysis within the framework of contemporary theory of science based on Kuhn´s theory of paradigms, with the emphasis on the revolutionary character of Winnicott´s contribution.
B) Winnicott´s theory of maturation
Under this topic will be offered a study of the central part of Winnicott´s paradigm of psychoanalysis: his theory of emotional and personal maturation, which is used by him as the frame of reference for diagnoses, clinical practices and prevention.
- Period – November 2014
Winnicott´s psychopathology I: psychoses and psychosomatic diseases
This period will be dedicated to the study of disturbances of the process of maturation which originate from traumas taking place in the very early phases of this process (in the first year approximately).
- Period – May 2015
Winnicott´s psychopathology II: other disturbances
This period will be dedicated to the examination of the disturbances, the original point of which is situated in later phases, in particular depression, paranoia, anti-social tendency and neuroses as well as different social pathologies.
- Period – November 2015
Winnicott´s clinic
In this part of the course we will be examine Winnicott´s original concepts of clinical phenomena, such as the regression to dependence, as well as his main clinical procedures, both those taken from the traditional psychoanalysis, like interpretation, and those which belong to Winnicott´s paradigm proper, such as extended setting, family setting being mental hospital, psychoanalysis on demand, management, therapeutic consultations and squiggle games.

Clinical cases I
In this period we will be study clinical cases presented by Winnicott himself as proofs or as illustrations of his paradigm, as well as cases brought up by the participants of the course.
- Period – November 2016
Clinical cases II
In this period will be continued the study of clinical cases presented by Winnicott himself as proofs or as illustrations of his paradigm, as well as cases brought up by the participants of the course.
In final lessons an overview of Winnicott´s place in the history of psychoanalysis will be given, with special emphasis on his relation to Freud and M. Klein.
